## **Study the information and write sentences with like (6.3) — and complete the negative sentences with don’t / doesn’t (6.4).**

Answer:

Below I give clear, complete answers for both exercises (6.3 and 6.4), show the correct forms (positive and negative) with explanations, and include a summary table. If any “I” sentence needs to describe yourself, replace the sample “I” sentence with your own preference.

## Table of Contents

1. [Exercise 6.3 — Sentences with like](#exercise-63)
2. [Grammar notes for 6.3](#grammar-63)
3. [Exercise 6.4 — Negative sentences (don’t / doesn’t)](#exercise-64)
4. [Grammar notes for 6.4](#grammar-64)
5. [Summary table of answers](#summary-table)
6. [Short summary](#summary)

## **1. Exercise 6.3 — Sentences with like**

Using the information in the table, write sentences with like / don’t like / likes / doesn’t like.

1. Bill and Rose like classical music.
Carol **doesn’t like** classical music.
I **don’t like** classical music. _(Change the “I” sentence if you personally like classical music: “I like classical music.”)_

2. Bill and Rose **don’t like** boxing.
Carol **likes** boxing.
I **don’t like** boxing. _(Or: “I like boxing” if that is true for you.)_

3. Bill and Rose **don’t like** horror films.
Carol **likes** horror films.
I **don’t like** horror films. _(Or: “I like horror films” if true.)_

4. Bill and Rose **like** dogs.
Carol **doesn’t like** dogs.
I **don’t like** dogs. _(Or: “I like dogs” if that is your preference.)_

## **2. Grammar notes for 6.3**

- For plural subjects (Bill and Rose) use: **like / don’t like**. Example: **Bill and Rose like classical music.**
- For third-person singular (Carol / he / she / it) use: **likes / doesn’t like**. Example: **Carol doesn’t like dogs.**
- For the first person singular use: **I like / I don’t like**. Replace the sample “I” sentences with your own answer if needed.

## **3. Exercise 6.4 — Complete the sentences (all negative). Use don’t/doesn’t + one of the verbs: cost, drive, go, know, play, see, sell, smoke, wash, wear**

1. “Have a cigarette.” “No, thank you. I **don’t smoke**.”
2. They **don’t sell** newspapers in that shop.
3. She has a car but she **doesn’t drive** very often.
4. I like films but I **don’t go** to the cinema very often.
5. He smells because he **doesn’t wash** very often.
6. It’s a cheap hotel. It **doesn’t cost** much to stay there.
7. He likes football but he **doesn’t play** very often.
8. I **don’t know** much about politics.
9. She is married but she **doesn’t wear** a ring.
10. He lives near our house but we **don’t see** him very often.

## **4. Grammar notes for 6.4**

- Use **don’t** with I / you / we / they + base verb: **don’t + verb**.
Example: **They don’t sell** newspapers.
- Use **doesn’t** with he / she / it + base verb: **doesn’t + verb**.
Example: **She doesn’t drive** very often.
- All sentences required are negative, so we always use don’t/doesn’t + base form of the verb (no -s after the main verb in the negative).

- For exercise **6.4** , all sentences are negative: choose the correct verb from the list and use **don’t** for I/you/we/they and **doesn’t** for he/she/it.
- Replace the example “I” answers with your personal answers where the worksheet expects your own opinion.

If you want, I can reformat these answers as text you can copy into your worksheet, or check your own “I” choices. Let me know! @Nurgul_Polat
