## Singular and Plural Determiners: Using “There is” and “There are”

💡 **KEY FORMULA / RULE:** Use **“There is”** before singular countable nouns (one person, place, or object) and **“There are”** before plural countable nouns (two or more people, places, or objects).

**Step 1 — Understand the Pattern from Examples 1 & 2**

- **1:** One person \rightarrow _“There is a teacher.”_
- **2:** Three people \rightarrow _“There are three pupils.”_
