Bu tür bölgelerde yaygın olarak görülen göl türlerinden biri karstik göllerdir. Karstik göller, karstik arazilerde, yani çözünmesi kolay kireç taşı, dolomit gibi taşların bulunduğu yerlerde oluşur.
